He wore sky blue jeans and a clean white short sleeved cotton shirt. He had left the top three buttons undone.
The ever astute Tanya, however, spied a few locks of chest hair poking out the top, and a drop of water that dropped from his brushed back hair and trickled down his throat journeying to meet it. She smiled at him. “Better?” she asked. “Nothing like a shower to freshen you up.”
“Much better thanks.” He sniffed the air. “Mm, something smells wonderful, and I love the way you've laid the table. It looks very special. And you're a real lady. ”
Tanya gave a little laugh. “I love having the excuse to entertain again. I'm still seen as a bit of an outsider here, totally different to where I used to live when my husband was alive. We entertained a lot back then. His was a high pressure job though, and he died about two years ago. I needed to get away and six months ago, I sold up and moved here.”
She turned back to check on the food and put a couple of plates to warm. Then opened a drawer and retrieved a couple of white linen napkins, which she passed over to Luke asking him to place them on the table. “Food will be a couple of minutes. Roast beef with all the trimmings. I thought you'd be hungry and it's a speciality of mine.
As she passed the napkins, their hands gently collided. Luke reached out a couple of fingers and inadvertently stroked the back of Tanya's hand and the softness of her skin emanated a yearning to take her in his arms.
A sudden thrill graced Tanya's spine, and she turned away, afraid of him noticing the flush in her cheeks.
