Leanne slowly opened her eyes, trying to fathom her whereabouts. She tried to move, but shooting pains filled with fire seemed to consume every extremity. Even moving her eyes seemed too much.
Blades of grass tickled her fingers, and a soft breeze blew wispy blond hair strands across her face. Leanne slowly came to realize that she was somewhere, she had no idea where, lying on the ground, and the awful memory of what had happened dawned on her.
Leanne wondered if she would be found and rescued. From what she could remember there had been a car crash. The memories came back slowly and she hoped her husband, the driver was safe.
A hazy white light surrounded her and she noticed a figure walking towards her. Soon, though, she realized it was a small girl with curly blond hair and deep blue eyes.
She knelt down by Leanne and took her hand, stroking it gently. “Someone is coming to help you,” she said, a tear glistening on her cheek. “I'll stay with you.”
“Please don't cry,” Leanne whispered. All strength had disappeared from her.
“You can't die,” sobbed the girl. “If you do, I won't be born.”
