Linda quickly withdrew her hand. She smiled.“Sorry, honey, I didn't mean to make you jump. I'll go and get that hot chocolate, that I promised. You just relax. You must be tired after your journey.”
A few minutes later, Linda returned carrying a tray that bore two mugs of steaming hot chocolate. As she put the tray down Judy noticed the tiny marshmallows that floated on top of the drinks and mini chocolate flakes to the side.
As Linda passed a mug to her she explained she couldn't make her mind up whether to bring marshmallows or chocolate, and so brought both. “It turns the hot chocolate from something ordinary into a special drink,” she smiled, kneeling next to Judy.
Judy took a gulp, then coughed and spluttered. “What did you put in this? It's not just hot chocolate, I'm sure of that.”
“Well, I thought you might need warming up on the inside too. It's brandy, can't you tell?” Linda laughed at her surprised friend who had gone red with coughing. She hugged her. “Are you all right?"
“Oh yes. Just surprised that's all. You put a good glug in the drink didn't you?”
“I don't believe in half measures.”
