Strange things happen on nights such as this. Zaria had read about it. As hazy mists swaddle neolithic monuments, Druid magic envelopes the soul of humankind. Tonight was that night.
Around her there was only silence. One by one, stars winked down from the night sky. Although alone, she felt unafraid, even when shifting position, Zaria felt long cold fingers clutch both of her bare shoulders.
A new moon shone down and highlighted the relief on Zaria's face. It was Edgar.
“I knew you wouldn't let me down,” the rich voice whispered into her ear.
“I had to come. I want to be yours, forever.”
“There's no going back.”
Zaria nodded, her lips developing a broad, happy smile.
He discarded the shawl, untied Zaria's bun, letting her long dark locks flow free.
Edgar moved closer, kissing the side of her neck.
Zaria gasped her last, as dark blood trickled down her.
She belonged to Edgar now.
